IOM Mongolia is promoting the voting rights of the Mongolian diaspora during the 2024 Parliamentary election.

Mongolian government has proven yet again that diaspora is becoming an important priority for them by making significant improvement in the election regulations as follows:

1. More engaging!

Diasporas can vote for Parliamentary elections - diasporas only voted for the presidential elections with only exception for the parliamentary election in 2012. But this year thanks to the new mixed electoral system, Mongolian diaspora can vote for their choice of political party.

2. More digital!

Diasporas can now register online to vote, saving time and money - formerly they had to travel twice to the Mongolian diplomatic missions: once to register and once again to vote.

3. More accessible!

Diasporas can now vote for four days - formerly it was two, while now it is increased to four: Thursday to Sunday.

4. More attention!

Mongolian General Election Committee has established a dedicated technical working group to organize and promote participation of the Mongolian diaspora during this election.

IOM Mongolia, as a key migration agency advocating for increased and improved diaspora engagement in Mongolia, is cooperating with the General Election Committee to improve access to information on the new changes to the regulations and importance of diaspora voting to increase the participation of the Mongolian diaspora during the 2024 Parliamentary elections.
