Chief of Mission in China and Mongolia Completes His Visit to Mongolia
Mr. Giuseppe Crocetti, Chief of Mission IOM China and Mongolia undertook a five-day working visit to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, 10th to 14th April 2023. During the working, the Chief of Mission met with the Mongolian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mme. Battsetseg Batmunkh and other high-level government officials working in migration governance, as well as key partners, including ambassadors and representatives from the development cooperation agencies, the World Bank and UN Agencies. Additional meetings with key donors like Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) also took place.
The Chief of Mission also used the working visit to participate in a capacity development event for Border officials from all the border checkpoints in Mongolia on human trafficking and town hall meeting with staff and presentation on IOM operations in Mongolia.
Throughout his visit, Mr. Crocetti praised the strategies adopted by the government to address migration challenges in line with the GCM, the existing levels of coordination of IOM in Mongolia with national and local authorities for project implementation, and the comprehensive approach used in IOM operations nationwide in line with internal migration management. The Programme manager for IOM Mongolia Country Mission, Daniel Sam and some project staff also joined the visiting Chief of Mission in some of meetings with partners.
