Director General Amy Pope Visits KVAC in Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar - On August 23, 2024, IOM Director General Amy Pope visited the Korea Visa Application Center (KVAC) in Ulaanbaatar as part of her official trip to Mongolia.
IOM operates the KVAC in Ulaanbaatar with the authorization of the Government of the Republic of Korea (ROK). This partnership involves managing administrative tasks related to visa application services for Mongolian nationals and residents. The KVAC is one of IOM's flagship programmes, aligning with the IOM Strategic Plan 2024-2028, specifically under Pillar 3: Facilitating Pathways for Regular Migration. This center demonstrates IOM's commitment to its Member States and to migrants by ensuring integrity, transparency, and accountability in migration management.
After a brief tour of the KVAC office in Ulaanbaatar, the Director General had a townhall meeting with all staff in IOM Mongolia including the KVAC staff. The staff shared their success stories and discussed the challenges they have faced in their work. The Director General expressed her commitment to supporting the mission in Mongolia and provided advice and suggestions to the IOM team. The town hall meeting was moderated by Daniel Sam, the Programme Manager for the IOM Mongolia Country Office, and Ahryeong Oh, the Team Leader of the Korea Visa Application Center.
