IOM commemorates World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2024 with the theme "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against TIP"
Ulaanbaatar - On 30 July 2024, IOM commemorates the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2024 (hereinafter referred to as "WDATIP 2024") with the theme "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking".
Highlighting that one-third of victims of human trafficking globally is a child, IOM stresses the need of accelerated action to end child trafficking, particularly girls who are being disproportionately affected. The key messages from IOM for WDATIP 2024 are as follows.
- No age range, no gender, and no nationality is immune to child trafficking; it is truly global phenomenon;
- Actions should be informed by evidence, and address context-specific drivers and vulnerabilities to trafficking;
- Prevent harm caused by child trafficking: increase resilience, reduce vulnerability, raise awareness;
- Every trafficked child deserves protection: uphold the rights and meet the protection needs of all VOTs, focusing on individual needs of each child;
- Working together to ensure no child is left behind: strengthening partnership and coordination is essential for an effective response to human trafficking.
In commemoration of WDATIP 2024, IOM Mongolia participated in the Blue Heart Campaign organized by World Vision Mongolia to raise awareness of human trafficking.
