Mongolia Hosts World Women's Forum 2024
Ulaanbaatar - World Women's Forum 2024 (hereinafter referred to as "the Forum") will be convened in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia for two days from August 22 to 23, 2024, under the theme of "Towards a Green Future".
2024 signifies the centennial celebration of the founding of the Mongolian Women's Federation. The Forum commemorates this meaningful year aiming to hold a constructive dialogue on the importance of women's empowerment, gender equality, climate change, and the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Gender equality and women empowerment are also one of the United Nations mandates stressed in the SDG 5: Gender Equality. The Forum is expected to act as a platform for women leaders in all aspects to engage and build momentum towards the 30th Anniversary of the adoption of the "Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action".
IOM is co-organizing the second thematic session with FAO and WHO. The agenda of the session is "Sustainable Future: Role of Women in Shaping Food Systems". IOM highlights the role of woman migrants in shaping food systems contributing to every process from production and processing to distribution and consumption for achieving a sustainable future. The thematic sessions are consisted of six agendas in total. Each agenda is elaborated in the forum schedule below.
During the Forum, IOM will be delegated by the Director General Ms. Amy Pope and the Chief of Mission Officer-in-Charge in Mongolia Mr. Daniel Sam.
